embracing play

I’ve been putting myself under such pressure because I’ve not posted for almost two weeks, and I so desperately want to do justice to my Brené  Brown post that I’m probably over-thinking it. I just need to go back to basics and write from the heart. So this is a silly, short, off-the cuff post about embracing play! I am at heart a playful soul, or as we British like to say ‘cheeky.’ The above portrait set was taken one evening messing around with my iPhone.  The theme was ‘whimsy’ and I was feeling anything but playful.  So I looked at myself in the mirror (far too seriously) picked up an eyeliner and drew a moustache on myself.  Within the first two shots I was laughing hysterically and ended up loving this set and the whole experience.  It reminds me how quickly we can move from one emotion to another if we a) choose to and b) change our focus.

I hope that you can find your playful nature today and embrace the joyful child within!

These are so great! Amazing how quickly we can turn things around just by looking at them another way, huh? Love that you captured this moment in self-portraits.

This is exactly what I needed today….to smile. I think the older we get the more we forget to play and enjoy the small things. Thank you for reminding me today to embrace the child within! Makes me want to twirl!

brilliant example of a saying I picked up the other day – “reposition your perspective” – and how it can work in amazing ways – thank you for the fun of it all that is waiting to be tapped in to at all times – hugs to you

Love this Danielle – I’m a big fan of “playing.” When I get in the mood to act silly, I borrow one of my close friends kids and we get to spend the day just playing, The kids love it, the parents get a break and I have an excuse to act like a kid again!
